What CP_a053 means

CP_a053 indicates a fault in your Tesla onboard charger which converts AC power to DC. DC fast charging bypasses the onboard charger so you may still Supercharge while this exists but Level 2 AC charging may not work.

What to do

⚠️ You may still Supercharge but Level 2 AC charging may not work. Schedule service soon.

Test DC fast charging — Try a Supercharger. If it works use DC charging while waiting for service appointment.

Stop using Level 2 charging — Do not force Level 2 AC charging while the fault is active.

Schedule Tesla service — Mention CP_a053 so technicians know the onboard charger needs inspection.

Check warranty status — Onboard charger repair may be covered under warranty.
