Battery Fault — Service Required
Serious battery management fault detected. Vehicle may enter reduced power mode. Do not ignore this code. Schedule Tesla service appointment immediately.
All Models
BMS_w062Medium
Battery Warning — Monitor Closely
Battery system warning that requires attention. Less severe than f062 but should be monitored. Check if warning clears after full charge cycle before scheduling service.
All Models
BMS_a069Medium
High Voltage Battery Needs Service
Battery pack requires service attention. May affect charging speed or range. Schedule a Tesla service appointment when convenient — not an emergency but don't delay too long.
Model 3Model Y
BMS_a068Low
Battery Charge Level Low
Battery state of charge has dropped to a level that may affect performance. Find a charging station soon. Vehicle range may be limited to protect battery health.
All Models
BMS_a071Medium
Battery Coolant Pump Fault
The battery cooling system pump is experiencing an issue. This can cause overheating during charging or driving. Avoid DC fast charging until resolved. Schedule service soon.
Model SModel XModel 3
BMS_a073High
Battery Thermal Runaway Risk
Critical thermal warning. Pull over safely and exit the vehicle. Do not charge. Contact Tesla emergency support immediately. This is a serious safety alert.
All Models
BMS_a040Low
Charge Port Latch Not Engaged
The charge port latch did not fully engage during charging. Try unplugging and replugging the charge cable. Check for debris in the charge port opening.
Model 3Model Y
BMS_a035Medium
Maximum Battery Charge Level Reduced
Tesla has temporarily reduced your maximum charge level to protect battery health. This is often a protective measure after repeated high-temperature charging. Usually resolves itself.
All Models
Charge Port System (CP) — Charging Issues
CP_a139Medium
Charge Port Latch Sensor Fault
The charge port door latch sensor is reporting an error. Your car may not charge properly. Try a soft reboot (hold both scroll wheels for 10 seconds). If it persists schedule service.
Model 3Model Y
CP_a004Low
Charge Port Door Open
Charge port door is detected as open while driving. Check that the door is fully closed and latched. If door appears closed, sensor may need calibration or cleaning.
All Models
CP_a010Medium
Charging Equipment Communication Error
Vehicle cannot communicate with the charging station. Try a different Supercharger stall or Level 2 charger. Could be a charger issue, not vehicle issue. Reboot vehicle and try again.
All Models
CP_a043Low
Charge Rate Reduced
Charging speed has been reduced. Common causes include high battery temperature, cold weather, or battery near full charge. Not an error — this is normal protective behavior.
Model 3Model YModel S
CP_a053Medium
Onboard Charger Fault
The onboard charger (for AC Level 2 charging) has detected a fault. DC fast charging may still work. Schedule service to repair the onboard charger unit.
All Models
CP_a079Low
Scheduled Charging Active
Vehicle is waiting for scheduled departure time before charging. Not an error — this is the scheduled charging feature working correctly. Adjust departure time in app if needed.
All Models
Drive Inverter System (DI) — Drivetrain
DI_w124Medium
Cruise Control Disabled
Autopilot and cruise control features have been temporarily disabled. Often caused by sensor obstruction (dirty camera or radar), poor weather conditions, or after a collision warning. Clean sensors and retry.
All Models
DI_a175High
Motor Fault — Reduced Power
Drive motor has detected a fault and vehicle has entered reduced power mode. You can still drive but avoid highway speeds. Schedule Tesla service immediately — do not ignore.
Model SModel XModel 3
DI_a222Medium
Inverter Temperature Warning
Drive inverter temperature is elevated. Usually occurs after spirited driving or towing in hot weather. Allow vehicle to cool down. Performance may be temporarily limited to protect the inverter.
Model 3Model Y
DI_a238Low
Regenerative Braking Reduced
Regenerative braking strength has been temporarily reduced. Common in cold weather when battery is cold. Will return to normal as battery warms up. No action needed.
All Models
DI_a190High
Drive Unit Needs Service
Drive unit has detected a serious fault requiring immediate service. Vehicle may still drive but performance is affected. Contact Tesla service as soon as possible. Do not make long trips.
Model SModel X
DI_a155Medium
Traction Control Intervention
Traction control system intervened to prevent wheel slip. Normal on slippery surfaces. If occurring on dry roads could indicate a tire or suspension issue worth investigating.
All Models
Vehicle Controller Front (VCFRONT) — Systems Control
VCFRONT_a180Medium
Vehicle Controller Communication Fault
Front vehicle controller is having communication issues with other systems. Try a full reboot by holding both scroll wheels. If error persists after reboot, schedule service.
Model 3Model Y
VCFRONT_a218Low
Autopilot Camera Calibration Needed
Autopilot cameras need recalibration. Drive on clear roads with visible lane markings at highway speeds for 20-30 miles. Autopilot features may be limited until calibration completes.
All Models
VCFRONT_a303Medium
Parking Sensor Unavailable
Parking sensors (ultrasonic) are temporarily unavailable. Check for sensor obstructions like ice, mud or damage. Clean sensor areas. Autopark feature will be disabled until resolved.
Model 3Model YModel S
VCFRONT_a402High
Airbag System Fault
Airbag system has detected a fault. This is a safety-critical warning. Airbags may not deploy properly in a collision. Schedule Tesla service immediately — do not delay.
All Models
